USER RESEARCH

I started the project by conducting an initial interview. I wanted to know what are things Eric cares about and why he doesn’t like his current website. I needed to uncover the things Eric was passionate about.

Examples of some questions I asked:

What Do You Want People to Do on Your Website?

What Do You Love/Hate About Your Current Website?

What Are 3 Websites You Really Love?

MOOD BOARD

After our initial interview I created a mood board in Milanote. I collected different inspirations and websites that I thought would reflect the type of experiences Eric wanted his website visitors to have.

Second INTERVIEW

During the second interview I showed Eric the mood board and asked him to give me feedback about the different websites I had found. This exercise helped me further understand what Eric wanted.

Key finding from this interview were:

-The story is important, to Eric, he doesn’t have anything to sell.

-He wanted a single page website.

Ideation

SITE MAP

I created a site map for Eirc that outlined the website’s navigation and information hierarchy. The feedback Eric provided helmed me create the most current version of the site map.

WIREFRAME

I began the process of wireframing with sketches of the home page. During this process I kept getting feedback from Eric and I kept in mind the user goals of those who would be coming to his website. This wireframe served as a guide to for my design in Squarespace.

STYLEGUIDE

Next, I started brainstorming the color scheme for Eric’s website. I knew that Eric is interested in Teal Organizations, which are characterized by a self governing structure. In the initial interview I learned that his favorite color is orange. I created the style guide based on that concept and his favorite color, orange.
